A Leaking Waterfall @ Walmart

"A leaking waterfall @ Walmart?" What in the world???

Yes, I promised that I saw a leaking waterfall! It was in the check-out aisle #9. It came from...uh oh! My son, Conner. :/ I guess he couldn't wait until I was done with shopping to change his diaper. I had loads of stuff to check-out right when that happened. First time ever to have a leaking pants in public, whoohoo! Lucky, I had my mom with me (who happens to be standing by Conner...awesome. She smelled like peed. LOL! Just kidding, mother). She was able to watch over my stuff. The cashier lady was nice enough to come over and clean up the puddle with paper towels. My mom who later told me that she tried to clean it up herself but the lady didn't mind cleaning it up because she is a grandmother too. Aww how sweet! What was weird is the lady who was in front of me (who just finish paying for her stuff) came up & walk right pass me to stare at the mess. She did not said a word but just stare for some quite time. I tried so hard not to laugh because that was awkward and strange. I was kind of feeling a little bit embarrassed to haul my son to the nearest bathroom with his soaking bottom & a dripping diaper hauling by. Thankfully, the changing station time was quick and easy. Although, my son decided to run out of the bathroom by himself when I was gathering my stuff. Someone said oh "where's your mom?" Then he wanted to go in a stall with a stranger. haha! At least he is happy and clean. So that was my silly night during shopping. Count your many blessing name them one by one!  :)

Red Nail Polish and Black Olives

It's the small things that reminded me a lot of my grandma Swaim and grandma Vance. It's black olives and red nail polish. Sure, those two does not sound good the same sentence but let me tell you why.

When I was little about 2or 3 maybe older. My grandma Vance used to pop some black olives on my all of my fingers including my brother and my cousins who are close age. We would walk around and eat them one by one. Then run back to grandma for some more black olives. It sure kept us busy. I still remember doing that myself as I got older. You just had to! So tonight, Conner got to experience the same joy, by eating the black olives that sits on his fingers. His face was in awe when he realized that he can walk around with two black olives that sits on his index fingers. It was so adorable to see him run to show it to his daddy (who by the way, really hates black olives, hee hee!). Of course, Conner couldn't resist and ate the olives quickly. :)

After Conner had his snack, he went to bed early, ok maybe not so early. I had some free time to watch a 50's theme movie. It inspired me paint my nails. I chose red! It has been what?...10-15 years since I had a red nail polish. It looks so cherry and shiny like an apple. Looking at it made me smile and I thought about my grandma Swaim. She loved having a red nail polish on her fingernails and sometimes on her toenails. I used to think that I could never wear it like her because it looks amazing on her. I was the kind of person who would wear sky blue or maybe a little bit of dark pink here and there. Red was classy! I'm happy that I chose that color.

...like I said, it's the small things that gives me sweet memories of my grandmothers. :) I love you grandma Swaim and I really miss you grandma Vance.

A Broom and an Egg

Ok so I've been seeing this weird talk on facebook about people standing a broom upright and leaving it to stand on its own, even an egg. I know this sounds silly but come on! This is silly! People mentioned that it has to do with the gravity shifted with the earth lining up with the planets or something like that. So I finally gave in and tried for fun. Here's my proof that a broom and an egg can stand upright on its own...for a long period of time. I tried to leave it in the hallway to spook my hubby when he gets up for work. It didn't stand up all night. My husband did not believe me about the broom thing. He thought that people used photo shop. ha ha not!

oooo scary!

I PROMISE THIS IS NOT A HARD-BOILDED EGG.

Pineapple Cake, Steaks and Family Time

Last night, BG and I grilled some dinner for my parents and my grandparents. We had steaks, beef rice, salad, mixed fruit and end it with a yummy pineapple cake! It was so sweet to watch Conner give my grandma lots of hugs and play with my grandpa's walking cane. BG taught grandpa how to play Yahtzee's. Then BG, grandpa and I played a round of game. It was a nice relaxing evening. My grandma said it was nice to get out of the her house and spend some quality time. She really had enjoyed watching Conner being mischievous, playful and sweet. I love spending some time with my family!

Here's a recipe for making a pineapple cake. It's from my great grandmother Swaim. It's so easy to make and tastes good too!

Pineapple cake:
2 cups of flour
2 cups of sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp. of baking soda
1 tsp. of vanilla
1 can of crushed pineapple with juice
mixed well and pour into a 13" x 9" baking pan (pre-sprayed ). Bake at 350 degree for 20-35 minutes or untile done. It depends on your stove. Remove to cool when a toothpick comes out clean.

Cream Cheese Frosting:
2 cups of powered sugar
1 block of cream cheese-soften
1 tbls. of milk
1 tsp. of vanilla

mixed well and spread on the cooled cake. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Family Fun Day

Yesterday morning, my family and I head out to grab a couple of freebies. Yep. We didn't even sleep in because I was excited to get some free stuff! First, we got my printed coupon to ACE hardware store and got 1-quart paint for free! It's dark cherry red! Boy! I cannot wait to use this paint. I love to paint, can't you tell? BG also bought a few small samples in pastel colors, just in case I want to use it. Then we headed to Hobby Lobby. One of my favorite craft stores! We bought some fabric for making kids apron and curtains, some pearls for making bracelets, a can of chalkboard paint and a can of magnet spray. Yes, MAGNET! I'm already getting ideas of what to do with it. Recently, I bought a kids' play kitchen that is made of wood (from Goodwill for 8 bucks). I was thinking of spray paint the magnet on the doors and then use the chalkboard paint on top to coat it. The magnet paint acts like a primer. This should be fun for the kids to put magnet letters on the kitchen doors. I really hope it will work out great. I will blog about that project in the future.

Then we went to the mall and let Conner lose at the indoor playground. Conner had so much watching the kids and exploring. It was different to see him being more independent than at home. I noticed that he babbles with his hands instead of using his voice. I guess he thought everyone knows sign language. heehee!  After wearing out the engery, we walk briskly to get our free soft pretzels. The line was already starting to form and blocking a few stores' door down the line. Lucky, it was moving quickly. The workers were expecting a large crowd to claim their free pretzels. I LOVE Auntie Anne's pretzels! It's bad for you but it's oh so good! We got a starbuck drink with my giftcard. Yes for a FREE drink! Then BG took Conner to ride on the caresouel. It seem that Conner wasn't that impressed as we thought but he did seem like he had fun! I wish he was old enough to sit for an hour and half to take him to Dr. Seuss' new movie, The Lorax. I guess we'll have to wait in a few more years.

After hanging at the mall, we went to Target instead of going to lunch first because we were still full from our soft pretzels. Unfortunately, we forgot our stroller and Conner fell asleep in the car. We decided to try lying him down in a shopping cart on pile of blankets and coats. Surprisingly, he did nap for over an hour! I was surprised because Target became busy and noisy. We got a few things for his new room. A big rug that was on sale for $14, a humidifier and a watering can for Conner to play with when Spring comes. I also got a smaller rug for my bedside for $2.88! And two books for pleasure reading. Soul Surfer and The Hunger Game (1st one). I'm excited about the first book but the 2nd one, I'm a little nervous about what to expect from it. Have you read it?

Finally, we went home with some take-out calzones from Johnny's New York Pizza. It was delicious! I really had enjoy family fun day with my boys! Spending some quality time with my boys really does make me happy!
